Situated in the middle of fields and forests, the Church of Sant Joan de Sanata is a small rural gem with millennial origins. First documented in 1003 and rebuilt in 1572, it is part of the Inventory of Architectural Heritage of Catalonia as a Cultural Asset of Local Interest. Its parish borders municipalities such as Vilalba Sasserra and Sant Pere de Vilamajor, and today it still retains the calm and collected character that defines it. <\/p>\n
The building, with a single nave and Latin cross, has two side chapels, a unique bell tower of granite ashlars and battlements, and a central pyramidal roof. Inside, the ribbed vaults and the polygonal presbytery with buttresses reflect the successive reforms it has undergone. One of its treasures is the Mare de D\u00e9u del Roser, a 16th-century image that has survived the passage of time. <\/p>\n
Accessible on foot or by bicycle, the church is part of several hiking routes, ideal for combining heritage discovery and nature. But Sant Joan de Sanata is also a meeting point for the cultural life of the municipality thanks to the Sanata Concert Series, an annual season of classical music held inside the church. The small-format proposals, with voices, solo instruments and chamber music, attract both music lovers and lovers of the historical environment. A space where history, architecture and music coexist in harmony. <\/p>\n
