The Cau de la Mostela II is a megalithic site from the Copper Age and Early Bronze Age (approximately between 2200 and 1500 BC), located in a clearing in the Can Dous forest, within the municipality of Llinars del Vallès. It is a complex formed by a natural “cave” created by two granite blocks – one more than 1.30 m thick resting on the other – and, about eight meters away, a monolith almost two meters high with a concavity excavated in the upper part that is believed to have served as a ritual altar.
This site is part of the municipal inventory of archaeological heritage, and in the mid-20th century it was already known as “Cau de la Mostela”. Due to its shape and the presence of a possible altar, it is interpreted that it had a ceremonial function for the prehistoric communities that inhabited the area, offering valuable testimony about the first forms of spiritual and social life in the territory.
The site is accessible via hiking and mountain bike routes through the natural environment of Can Dous and has no tourist infrastructure (such as viewpoints or panels), which invites a silent, slow and respectful visit, faithful to its original spirit. It is an ideal stop for archaeology enthusiasts, quiet hiking and those looking for a connection with heritage in a preserved natural environment.
