A living tradition with a contemporary perspective
Released in 2000, The Passion of Llinars del Vallès aims to explain in an understandable and accessible way the most relevant moments of public life and the Passion of Jesus of Nazareth, a universal story that is part of our cultural legacy.
Since 2015, it has been performed at the Teatre Auditori de Llinars, usually the two weekends before Easter. The initiative comes from the Till-Tall Theatre Group, founded in 1987, for which this production is an annual challenge that it combines with other shows. In addition to the members of the group, residents of the municipality and people from other towns participate, making it a collective and community experience.
“Veniu a mi”, is the title that identifies the version of The Passion that is being performed in Llinars. It is a unique proposal within the Catalan panorama, faithful to the essence of tradition but with a contemporary language and an innovative staging, characterized by: the female protagonist, which gives a new look to the story; the minimalist and austere scenography, almost without sets, to focus on the word and emotions; and the modern dramaturgy and direct language, to connect with today’s audience.
La Passió de Llinars is part of the Catalan Federation of Passions and Europassion, the European network that brings together representations from 16 countries. This presence has allowed it to participate in prominent events, such as the annual presentations at the Palau de la Generalitat (2020) and Montserrat (2025), as well as the international congresses that are held each year.
In recent years, the show has incorporated new elements. In 2021, an original soundtrack was created, composed by David Gómez Comino, presented the following year with a string quartet. In 2024, the Espai d’Art hosted the exhibition “The Passion, Word and Emotion”, a journey through its history and its value as a cultural and theatrical heritage of the municipality.
Today, La Passió de Llinars is more than a representation: it is a living tradition that combines identity, emotion and creativity, maintaining the dialogue between past and present.
